All praise be to Allah for His guidance! Another international volunteer journey has been successfully completed, this time accompanied by a distinguished group of volunteers and mentors from Canada! Our destination: Indonesia and Malaysia.
This journey was a remarkable experience filled with achievements and educational activities, working with orphans and Rohingya refugees alike. It was a rich journey, full with programs, visits, and meetings with both old and new friends. Through this experience, I was able to delve deeper into the lives of Muslims in the farthest corners of the earth. We visited their mosques, witnessed their communities, and visited numerous relief projects. May Allah bless all those who have tirelessly worked to spread Islam and goodness in these regions.
Regrettably, unforeseen circumstances prevented my direct involvement in fieldwork to aid those affected by the earthquake in Morocco and the floods in Derna. Nonetheless, Alhamdulillah, we promptly contributed remotely to alleviate their suffering. Moreover, witnessing my students and former team members take charge of leading the emergency response efforts in Morocco and Libya fills me with satisfaction and immense pride.
Alhamdulillah, our charity in Tunisia has succeeded in nurturing a generation of professionals in humanitarian work. Indeed, humanity is fortunate to have them.
Reflecting on this journey, it’s clear that volunteering internationally not only allows us to serve those in need but also provides invaluable insights into different cultures, communities, and the global Muslim ummah (community). It’s a testament to the power of collaboration and the spirit of compassion that transcends borders.
From providing educational support to orphans to extending a helping hand to Rohingya refugees, every effort made during this journey contributes to a larger narrative of empathy and solidarity. It’s through these experiences that we realize the interconnectedness of humanity and the importance of standing together in times of adversity.
As we return home, let us carry forward the lessons learned and continue to strive towards making a positive difference in the world, one act of kindness at a time. May Allah accept our efforts and guide us towards even greater opportunities to serve His creation.
Stay tuned for more updates on future volunteer endeavors and reflections on our website.
