As I conclude yet another visit to the fortress of resilience, the city of minarets, guardians of the Quran, and the widespread endowments, Sarajevo, I bid farewell to its gracious people and dear colleagues, hopeful for a future reunion, by the will of Allah.
Alhamdulillah, it has been a successful journey, preparing for a new international volunteer program alongside visionary youth from North America and beyond. Our aim remains steadfast: to serve humanity and the resilient people who endured the hardships of the 1990s war and its aftermath, both materially and psychologically exhausted by the tension prevailing in the region, which could ignite new conflicts sought by former adversaries.
In the midst of the visit, as always, I paused to recite Surah Al-Fatiha for the soul of the national leader Alija Izetbegović and the martyrs of the Battle of Honor and Liberation. Bosnia is gearing up for a record tourist season this year after the COVID-19 pandemic, may Allah grant them success and protect the people of the Quran therein.
With a heart filled with reverence for the resilience of Sarajevo and hope for its future, I leave with cherished memories and a renewed commitment to serving humanity.
