Reflecting on 2020: A Year of Challenges and Achievements

As we bid farewell to another year, I extend my heartfelt wishes to you and your loved ones for health, happiness, and prosperity. May the new year bring us all greater blessings, shielding us from diseases, pandemics, and afflictions, and may it usher in relief for humanity, both swiftly and enduringly.

Our esteemed mentor in humanitarian work, Dr. Hany has instilled in us the tradition of summarizing our accomplishments on the final day of the year.

Despite the exceptional nature of this year, marked by profound loss as we mourned the departure of cherished family members and friends—may God rest their souls and grant them the highest ranks of paradise—and despite the limitations on gatherings and travel preventing reunions with loved ones and visits to our homeland, I am grateful to report a series of personal, professional, and social achievements.

On a personal level, the most significant achievement was the opportunity to spend uninterrupted time with my small family and rediscover the joys of bonding with my beloved wife, Aya, and our daughter, Leen. It has been a time of learning and growing together, cherishing their many talents, and drawing inspiration from them.

Professionally, I obtained the prestigious Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and resumed remote teaching as a visiting professor at one of Tunisia’s esteemed universities. I also conducted numerous training workshops in project management, safety, humanitarian work, and more. Additionally, I had the honor of evaluating international humanitarian programs and launching remote teaching initiatives for orphans and refugees, as well as providing leadership training for scout leaders in Tunisia and the Arab region in crisis management and disaster response.

Moreover, I actively participated in managing the COVID-19 crisis with the Canadian Red Cross, overseeing campaigns to procure medical equipment distributed to healthcare institutions in Tunisia. Furthermore, I spearheaded efforts to repair several rural schools (far surpassing what K2Rhym did 😂😂) and advocated for numerous humanitarian causes, including the Beirut explosion, Sudan floods, Hyderabad floods in India, COVID-19 prevention programs, and the support of Palestinian, Syrian, and Rohingya refugees.

I am also grateful for my nomination and election as a board member of a major international organization for humanitarian and protection professionals based in Geneva, where I will play a pivotal role.

Although international travel was restricted, I had the privilege of exploring various Canadian provinces and meeting wonderful friends from diverse backgrounds. Canada, with its vastness, offers unparalleled beauty in every season, making traveling within it a delightful experience.

We pray that our efforts are accepted by the Almighty and recorded in our favor, and that He grants us the opportunity for further humanitarian service. May God reunite us with our families and loved ones as soon as circumstances allow.

Once again, wishing you all a blessed new year filled with joy and prosperity.

Warm regards,
